Facebook Page Setup

Contractor Marketing ROadmap: Step 2.1

Facebook Page vs Profile

When you set up your business Facebook account, we always recommend you set up a page not a profile. A Facebook profile is meant to be a personal page that only shares with your friends. On the other hand, a Facebook page is meant for businesses, and it’s designed to help you share content and reach a wider audience.

Plus, if you set it up as a page, you’ll get access to analytics, advertising tools, and you’ll be able to assign multiple admins to let other people help you share content and run ads.

Contractor Marketing Roadmap: Step 2

Getting started, you want your customers to be able to find you in as many places as possible, and creating a Facebook page for your business is a quick, easy win!

The reason it comes after your Google Business Profile is because it takes a bit more work to get the basics in place.

Free

Setting up a Facebook Page is free, and it'll only take a few hours to get the basics in place.

Facebook Audience

Once you create your page, anyone on Facebook can find your business!

Local Groups

You can use your page to post in local groups, which is the quickest way to find and reach a large local audience.

Low Time Investment

Setting up your page will only take a few hours (if not quicker), and we recommend taking about an hour a week to follow our post strategy.

Step 3

Fill Out Info

Fill out as much of the information as possible, and make sure it matches the same info you added to your GBP!

Step 4

Pictures and Post

Add a profile picture and cover photo, and make your first post to introduce yourself and give your customers some background on your business!

Optimizing Your Facebook Page

Tips and Suggestions

Make your business logo the profile picture, and use a picture of your team working on a project as your cover photo.

  1. Make sure the pictures you're using are clear and high-quality, especially for the profile pic and cover photo
  2. Check how it looks on your phone AND your computer to make sure it looks good on both!

Make sure your NAP (name, address, phone number) operating hours, and any other info matches exactly what you have listed on your GBP.

Write a description of your business and make sure to include:

  • what services you provide
  • a little bit about you and your business
  • what makes you different from the competition

Your page will give you the option to use a "Call-To-Action" button to help your customers take the next step. Use it to make it clear what you want them to do. Do you want them to message you? Call you? Visit your website?

When customers message you, respond as quick as you can! Facebook tracks how long it takes you to respond, and will let customers know before they message you. Generally, if you can respond within 15 minutes, you're golden!
